CMR Classification of Sodium Bromide
Work to assess the risks associated with the use of biocides continues, with the goal of protecting people and the environment.
This information hasn't been widely publicized, but as of June 1, 2022, formulations containing more than 3% sodium bromide are classified as CMR (H373, H361, H36).
These formulations are commonly used in the treatment of TARs in combination with bleach.
Users of this type of treatment must take this development into account. Two options should be considered: implementing requirements related to the use of a CMR product (CMR Chemical Agents: Regulations – Risks – INRS) or replacing sodium bromide.

- Performance against Legionella that is at least equivalent,

- Improving the quality of waste.
Substitution is very simple and requires no investment. It provides a reason to change the treatment strategy for TARs.
